Puppy Grooming Introduction Package

A thoughtful introduction to grooming, designed around your puppy.

A puppy's first experiences of grooming can shape how they feel about it for years to come. Rather than rushing through a first haircut, my Puppy Grooming Introduction Package takes a gentle, individual approach allowing your puppy to become familiar with the environment, handling and grooming process at a pace that feels comfortable for them.

This two-session experience is designed to build confidence, introduce essential grooming experiences gradually, and give you the knowledge and resources to continue that positive work at home.

Session One — Confidence & Grooming Introduction

Approximately 35–45 minutes

Your puppy's first visit is all about creating a calm and positive foundation.

We'll gently introduce them to the grooming environment, table, handling, brushes, grooming equipment and the sounds and sensations associated with grooming, including the dryer.

Every puppy is different, so there is no expectation to complete a set list of grooming tasks. We'll work according to their individual confidence and tolerance, using gentle handling, positive reinforcement, treats and plenty of breaks.

Where your puppy is comfortable, we'll also begin introducing simple grooming tasks.

Session Two — First Puppy Groom

Approximately 1–1½ hours

Once we've established what your puppy is comfortable with, we'll build upon their first experience with their first gentle grooming session.

This may include a puppy-appropriate bath and blow-dry, together with age-appropriate paw, face and hygiene tidying where your puppy is comfortable.

The session will always be adapted to your puppy. The priority is not achieving a particular haircut, but ensuring that their first grooming experiences remain calm, positive and confidence-building.

Your Personalised Puppy Grooming Guide

Your puppy will receive a bespoke grooming guide tailored specifically to their breed and coat.

This includes:

• Coat-care and maintenance advice

• Recommended brushes, combs and grooming tools

• Guidance on brushing and coat maintenance at home

• Advice on introducing grooming and handling gradually

• Carefully selected video resources

• Guidance to help you prepare your puppy for future professional grooming

The aim is to give you the confidence and knowledge to continue building good grooming habits between appointments.

Puppy Welcome Pack

Your puppy will also receive a little welcome pack to take home, including:

• Natural, puppy-safe training treats from a trusted local supplier

• One carefully selected item to support positive associations with handling and grooming - such as a paw & nose balm, gentle shampoo bar or enrichment toy

• Photographs from their first grooming experience sent to your email

What Happens After the Package?

The introduction package is the beginning of your puppy's grooming journey, rather than a one-off puppy groom.

Once your puppy has completed their two introductory sessions, we'll assess how their confidence has developed and plan their next appointment accordingly. This allows us to gradually introduce more grooming tasks as they become ready, rather than expecting them to cope with everything at once.

The goal is to create a puppy who grows up understanding that grooming is a safe, familiar and positive part of their routine.

For your puppy’s safety, all puppies must be fully vaccinated (both vaccinations completed) and at least 1–2 weeks post-second vaccination before attending their first session.

This programme is designed for puppies up to 6 months of age. Older or more nervous puppies may require additional sessions to ensure a calm and positive experience.

A light tidy to keep the face neat and comfortable and those beautiful eyes visible.

Includes:

• Eye area trim to maintain clear vision

• Eyebrow and eyelash tidy

• Ear tidy and maintenance

This service can be booked as a standalone treatment or combined with other services, such as the Luxury Pedicure, Rejuvenating Red Light Therapy, or alongside a Full Groom & Style.

This thoughtful treatment helps maintain healthy nails, soft paw pads, and promotes comfort with every step.

Includes:

• Nail trim

• Paw pad and foot tidy

• Rich, nourishing paw balm, applied with gentle, soothing touch techniques.

Standalone pedicure for dogs who need extra nail care or paw maintenance in between full grooms. Can also be booked alongside a gentle face tidy for a targeted refresh.

A gentle, non-invasive light treatment designed to support skin and coat condition, while promoting a calm and relaxed experience for your dog. This quiet, warming treatment can be enjoyed as a standalone session, added to any grooming service, or as part of the Calm Reset package.

Suitable for:

• Supporting overall coat condition,

• Dry or dull coats,

• Dogs who benefit from calm, still relaxing time.

This is a non-medical, holistic wellness treatment, and is not induced to diagnose, treat, or cure any health conditions. At Calm Canine, this treatment is offered as a gentle, wellbeing focused addition to grooming, designed to support overall skin and coat condition. Results may vary between dogs, and this treatment should be considered as part of a broader approach to your dog's wellbeing, which includes: a balanced diet, regular veterinary care, ongoing grooming and care. If your dog has any underlying skin or health concerns, veterinary advice should be sought. While research into red light therapy is still developing, a selection of scientific studies and reviews is available and can be shared upon request.
